Legal
Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is collected and used when you visit Date Engineer, subscribe to the newsletter, contact me, purchase a digital product, or enquire about coaching.
1. Data controller
The controller of your personal data is Bart, an individual based in Portugal and the operator of Date Engineer.
For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact: contact@dateengineer.com.
2. Data collected
Depending on how you use the website, the following data may be processed:
- your email address, preferred language, subscription status, the date and time of your consent, and newsletter delivery information;
- your name, email address, and the contents of messages you send;
- information needed to provide coaching or fulfil a digital product purchase;
- technical information such as IP address, browser, device, timestamps, and server logs.
3. Purposes and legal bases
- Newsletter and occasional offers for coaching and digital products: your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You may withdraw it at any time.
- Enquiries, coaching, and purchases: taking steps at your request or performing a contract under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.
- Website security, protection against bots and abuse, and service reliability: legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
- Accounting, tax, and other statutory duties: compliance with legal obligations under Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.
4. Newsletter and Resend
Newsletter subscriptions and emails are handled by Resend (Resend, Inc.), using its European (Ireland) data region. Subscription uses double opt-in: you only become a subscriber after clicking the confirmation link sent to your email address. The confirmation link is valid for 7 days. Your email address, preferred language, and the date and time of your confirmation are stored to document your consent.
Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also reply to any email or write to contact@dateengineer.com. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
5. Bot and spam protection
To prevent automated sign-ups, the newsletter form is checked by Vercel BotID, a service of Vercel Inc. Your browser runs a short invisible check when you submit the form, and technical signals about the browser and the request are evaluated by Vercel. The result is only used to decide whether the sign-up is accepted.
Sign-up requests are also limited per IP address to prevent abuse.
6. Service providers and recipients
Personal data is processed by service providers that run the website: Vercel Inc. (website hosting and bot protection), Resend, Inc. (newsletter and email delivery), and OVHcloud (domain and email inbox for contact@dateengineer.com). Providers used to deliver payments or digital products will be added here when those services are introduced. Professional advisers or public authorities may receive data where required by law.
Personal data is not sold.
7. International transfers
Vercel and Resend are based in the United States and may process data outside the European Economic Area. Such transfers are protected by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or by Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. Retention
Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent. A record that you unsubscribed may then be retained where necessary to respect your choice and demonstrate compliance. Unconfirmed sign-ups are not stored as subscribers. Enquiry, transaction, and technical records are retained only for as long as needed for their purpose or for the period required by applicable law.
9. Your rights
Subject to the conditions of the GDPR, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, or portability of your data, object to certain processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Contact contact@dateengineer.com to exercise these rights.
You may also lodge a complaint with the Portuguese supervisory authority, Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD). Visit the CNPD website.
10. Cookies and similar technologies
The website uses only technologies necessary for its operation and security: a cookie that remembers your preferred language (NEXT_LOCALE) and the bot protection described above. No analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies are used. If such technologies are introduced, this policy and a consent mechanism will be updated before they are used where consent is required.
11. Automated decisions
Date Engineer does not use personal data to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
12. Adults only
Date Engineer is intended for adults. Personal data is not knowingly collected from anyone under 18.
13. Security and changes
Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect personal data. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
This policy may be updated when the website, service providers, or legal requirements change. The latest version and its effective date will be published on this page.
